The Mercer Chaise Sectional Sofa by Stanley Furniture reads as one shape. It pairs the Mercer One-Arm Sofa with the Mercer One-Arm Chaise as a single set, so the only decisions are your fabric and which side the chaise goes on. The 5-inch arm curves down and flows into a low 26-inch back that runs the full 114-inch width and turns the corner onto the chaise without a break, and the upholstered base sits on the floor with no visible feet. It is the most contemporary sectional we make, and the rounded shape keeps it warm rather than severe.

The low back and 42-inch depth make for a lounging sit, and the cushions get softer the longer you sit. The 67-inch chaise finishes the thought. Because the base runs to the floor, the whole piece reads as a single solid form in the room, which is exactly what a floating sectional should do.

Both pieces are built on kiln-dried hardwood frames, primarily solid alder, with corner blocks that are glued, stapled and screwed so the curve stays true. Arched 8.5-gauge sinuous steel springs with double tie-wires support every seat quietly and without sag. Cushions are a high-density foam core wrapped in a feather-locked envelope of Trillium gel-blown fiber, as soft as down without the feathers, so they soften in without going flat.
