Sterling Chaise Sectional Sofa

The Sterling Chaise Sectional Sofa by Stanley Furniture is the architectural one. It pairs the Sterling One-Arm Sofa with the Sterling One-Arm Chaise as a single set, so the only decisions are your fabric and which side the chaise goes on. Straight 6-inch track arms run level at each end, the back stands a full 32 inches tall and square along the whole 115-inch width, and tapered wood feet lift both pieces off the floor. Premium and polished, it is the sectional for a formal living room that still wants a place to lie down.

The tall back is the point. It supports you up to the shoulders, so the two sofa seats are for sitting up and reading; the 68-inch chaise is for the opposite. The flat track arms take a book or a cup at either end.

Both pieces are built on kiln-dried hardwood frames, primarily solid alder, with corner blocks that are glued, stapled and screwed so the straight lines stay straight. Arched 8.5-gauge sinuous steel springs with double tie-wires support every seat quietly and without sag. Cushions are a high-density foam core wrapped in a feather-locked envelope of Trillium gel-blown fiber, as soft as down without the feathers, so the tall back holds its shape.
